James J Ennis Scholarship Awarded

At a recent dinner for the retirees of the Racine Education Association, future teacher Ms. Michelle Streed was awarded the James J. Ennis Scholarship in the amount of one thousand dollars. The Scholarship was created to honor the life-long dedication to the teaching profession displayed by James Ennis, a former Executive Director of the Racine Education Association.

Ms. Streed is currently a sophomore at Cardinal Stritch University where she is majoring in Secondary Education and English and also obtaining a minor in Reading/Literacy. Ms. Streed plans on working in a public urban environment when she graduates from Cardinal Stritch University.

The James J. Ennis Scholarship is open to the legal dependents of a full, dues paying member of the Racine Education Association. Ms. Maureen Streed, Michelle's mother, is a Title 1 teacher at Gilmore Middle School.
